Barbara graduated from San Francisco Theological Seminary in 1996 with an award in homiletics (preaching) and a concentration in spirituality, and in October of that year was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament. Barbara also earned a DMin in 2007 which focused on understanding and responding to Christian Fundamentalism – crossing bridges between people of differing theologies. She has worked for the last nineteen years as both a pastor and a musician. Barbara has a strong commitment and passion for social justice and has done peace and assistance work in Brazil, Alabama, North Carolina, New Mexico and with immigrants, women and the homeless population in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as encouraging growing mission and outreach in the congregations she has served through mission trips, extensive involvement in hunger programs, youth and children’s programs, etc. Besides her commitment to serving God’s people through mission, she is also passionate about the liturgical arts as a musician and dancer. She values and appreciates different kinds of worship and has started several Praise services and Taize services within different congregations as well as enjoying traditional worship styles. Barbara loves working with children and often uses her music, dance, drama and sign language skills in working with them. She is blessed especially to be a parent to three unique and beautiful children, ages fifteen, twelve and ten who every day show her God’s love and grace in new and awesome ways. While spending most of her life in the San Francisco Bay Area, she has also served churches in Arizona and Ohio. She is so excited to be working with the wonderful and loving community of Clayton Valley Presbyterian Church.
