Land Acknowlegement

We gather today, and every day, on land that is not ours, noticing where we are and speaking truth about this land.

We remember and acknowledge the first people on these lands, who have been guardians of the land from time immemorial. Our church campus is on the land of the Bay Miwok, Yokuts, Muwekma, and Confederated Villages of Lisjan.

We acknowledge that the land was taken from their care by force and by fraud, and that what was done wrongly has not yet been made right.

With this land acknowledgment we are just beginning the process of recognizing a more truthful history of the land where we live, work, and worship.  Remembering is holy and important work. Our faith calls us to remember, and to take care of the land. You can learn more about the first people here and at any location at https://native-land.ca/.
