For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
Philippians 2:13 NLT

We worship every Sunday at 10:30 am. in the sanctuary. Worship is a place for all to come as we are, to be ourselves, to accept and be accepted, to praise God, to pray, and to proclaim the Word.

As one attendee put it:

Several years ago I went shopping, for a church. The first one was TOO big, the second one was TOO far away, but this one, it was just right. As soon as my shoes landed on the floor of the Narthex I knew I was in the right house. I had found my home. A mix that is rich in tradition, but contemporary, open, loving, warm and caring. What a wonderful blend of God's people under one roof, and the choir's singing of “Jesus Loves Me”, well, the child in me was thrilled beyond words. Since that first day, I can not imagine worship anywhere else. Even though I have visited other churches, coming home is still the sweetest of Sundays.

Throughout the week, I carry the Word of God with me, sharing that same caring, loving feeling I receive, and giving it to all I meet. I feel very connected to the passage from Philippians that is quoted above. This energy to do God's work, comes from the community I have found at Clayton Valley Presbyterian Church, from the Pastor, the choir and the congregation. It has been almost 10 years, and yet it feels like yesterday when I walk back into the sacred space of Clayton Valley.

On any given Sunday, in addition to the familiar Reformed worship order, you may find a banjo band, high school flutists, the church chairs arranged in a circle or a large wardrobe in the corner as we celebrate the Season of Lent and explore all the ways we keep ourselves closeted. Together we explore the ways that Christ sets us free from such closure. Just as we do not believe there is only ONE right answer or a single way to believe and live out faith, we also don't worship in only one way at all times. We let the scripture, the seasons, the events of the world and the inspirations of our leadership guide our expressions of praise, prayer and worship.

Our hearts, our minds and our doors are open…
